STIRLING IBC 8th/9th April 2006

Scotland v England Fire Services International 2006

MATCH REPORT

Scotland again proved they have an abundance of very good bowlers at their disposal and although of the some usual faces were missing this year they still managed to field a very strong side.

On Saturday as the match progressed it was becoming obvious that bar one rink the match was very close with less than 10 shots in it. The one Scottish rink skipped by R Donaldson was proving decisive and by the end of the match, accounted for three quarters of the 32 shot lead that the Scots took into Sunday’s match.

On Sunday we did not start they way we hoped and fell further behind but as the match progressed we clawed back some of the shots lost, losing eventually by 11 on the day, having three winning rinks compared to 1 on Saturday.

Again the rink skipped by R Donaldson proved to good again and was to be a major factor in the Scots retaining the trophy.

As this was my last encounter against Scotland as team manager it would have been nice to bring back the Cup, but that was not to be. So I would like to wish every success for the future to who ever takes over the position of Team Manager.

Lastly but not least, Well  done Scotland.

Russell Stevenson
