FIRE SERVICES SPORTS AND ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 4 NATIONS OUTDOOR BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS Guidance Note (Sept 2006 Edition)
The Championships will take place annually and will bring together The Outdoor Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours Champions from the 4 nations to compete for the United Kingdom Championships. The Championships will perpetually rotate round the 4 countries in the following order: Scotland, N. Ireland, Wales and England. The Championships will also be a venue for a social event for Players Partners, Section Officials and Guests of the 4 Countries. The weekend will also include the AGM of the Section.
The Championships shall be financed by sponsorship and individual contributions from those attending.
The Greens selected must be deemed by the host country to be of a suitable standard of playing surface. The minimum standard being that they have not been deemed unsuitable for competitions by the appropriate County in the preceding season. The Greens shall preferably be along side each other. Where this cannot be achieved they shall be within a reasonable distance of each other to a limit whereby the scores can be readily conveyed across all Greens in use. An arrangement should also be made at a nearby indoor bowling club to take the Championships indoors should the games not be able to start or be completed outdoors due to the conditions of the weather or other valid reason. Taking the games indoors should only be done as a last resort and once taken indoors they will continue for one round and a reassessment made to take the subsequent round/s outdoors if possible.
The Games will be played in accordance with the World Bowls and World Indoor Bowls Council Laws of the Sport of Bowls. These Laws will not be varied by any National variation. NOTE: The World Laws require Bowls to be retested every 10 years. The new World Bowls Stamp was introduced in 2002. This doesn't mean that a set of woods made in 2001 suddenly became illegal in 2002 because they had the old WBB Stamp. It just means that they will require retesting before 01 Jan 2012. Therefore any bowls bearing any countries/official test house stamp of 2006 or later are legal. FROM THE 1ST JAN 2012 THERE WILL BE ONE LEGAL STAMP THAT WILL BE THE WB VERSION PROVIDING THAT IT IS IN DATE (10 YEARS) In the event that any game has to be stopped and cannot be resumed because of insufficient time on the first day of play then, providing 15 ends have been played the score will become the result of the game. If less than 15 ends have been played the game will be resumed the next day. If a game has to be stopped on the final day of play and cannot be resumed because of insufficient time then the score will become the game result irrespective of how many ends have been played. · Each Championship Game will be played on a round robin basis.
